Dream Wedding

Isn't it every girl's dream to have a wonderful wedding, so that one day, when your hair turns grey, you can look back and smile happily..??! After 2 consecutive Saturdays of searching for the ideal banquet venue, I announce the battle between Orchard Hotel and Marina Mandarin. Now the trouble is, Orchard Hotel does not have the slot for our wedding date. We are checking with MM, if they also do not have it, then we gotta change the date and see which one can offer better... oh, btw, the date now is 24th March, subject to changes, depending on hotel availability and parents' permission... very mafan to get married right...? Hmm... I tried not to think about it, even though I hope to settle it asap and also arrange for my photos taken.. there are so many things to be done, u know..? Getting married is not easy lei.. Maybe I am the kan cheong type who can't wait for things to get done asap...! Cuz it's better to settle it for all then have "nights long dreams many"...

I have been to several hotels and here's the reference for all, in case you wish to get hitched soon =)

1) Grand Hyatt - Service sux.. not going to repeat the incidence last week as what I've told Orange and Fern... Anyway, it's all about discrimination and the washroom-is-for-hotel-guests-only matter that still makes my blood boils whenever I hear "HYATT"... So, don't step into this bloody hotel if you are wearing Polo T-shirts and jeans.. cuz you will not be welcomed, will not be treated like a hotel guest and definitely ban from using their washrooms... The wedding package is pretty EX.. $998nett per table.. the ballrooms are not wonderful too.. Maybe I am already affected by that incident and no matter how pretty is the place, I will not look again... kekekez.. they have indirectly turned down the 40k deal.. *pui*

2) Goodwood Park - Pretty nice place with crystal Chandeliers.. the ceiling is not very high but I quite like the environment.. the pool is on level 1 lor.. which I found that not many hotels in town area has a pool on level 1... Max capacity is 35tables.. we have to use 40 or more tables now, so we definitely can't use Goodwood. Oh ya, if you like durians, this is a great place to for durian puffs, durian pudding, durian roll, durian mooncakes, durian-whatever... Price tag: about $975nett

3) Marina Mandarin - Terrific place to have a dream wedding =) Beautiful chandeliers, cool environment and the lounge is my fav of all times....! I've been here to drink, dine on several occasions and I've fell in love with MM since along time ago.. also, it overlooks Marina Bay... romantic... It's fate will depend on whether it has the available slot we want... Price tag: $958nett

4) Oriental - this is also another great place to have your dream wedding.. except it's gonna burn a hole in your pockets.. very romantic setting and wonderful service.. nice chandeliers, but exceed our budget.. Price tag: about $1040nett

5) Pan Pacific - very "Lok" feeling.. modernized ballroom which I don't like.. reno sux.. haha, nothing else to mention since they didn't offend me.. Price tag: $928nett

6) Orchard Hotel - Nice squarish ballroom with no pillars.. beautiful crystal chandeliers, friendly salesperson, good service, quite affordable rate and good deal.. it does not have the "grandness" like MM but it's definitely not so financially draining.. 70% likely to be this one as Aaron likes it. Price tag: about $900nett

7) Regent Singapore - It has a feeling of elegance and grandness when you step into this hotel.. with a harpist performing in the coffee area, it makes you feel like heaven.. the hotel is not big but nicely furnished and decorated.. being an atrium hotel, natural sunlight is present during daytime.. the bad thing is, the ballroom lost out to Orchard and MM, it's smaller and the chadeliers are victorian-like with artificial candles.. not really my type.. the location is somewhat off too.. Price tag: $988nett

8) Traders Hotel - Not many people heard about this hotel but it's one of Shangri-la group and located just beside Tanglin Mall.. just went to visit for fun as I already know the ballroom fits 30table max. Not a very ideal venue for me but more suitable for small, cosier weddings.. Price tag: about $908nett

9) Hilton - Wanted to laugh out loud after I've visited this hotel.. Hilton has a good name right?? One tend to think Hilton as a super high class place.. so if you gonna hold your wedding here means you are super rich.. Let me tell you: NOT REALLY.. I have this quite hao-lian colleague who announce loudly during one lunch occasion that she held her wedding at Hilton Hotel with 40 tables.. I thought her husband's rich so she could speak louder than others.. who knows after checking out the hotel yesterday, it was a felony.. the ballroom sux.. and 2 gigantic pillars hung out at the side.. very strange looking chandeliers made out of glass like maggie mee.. you just imagine placing 2 pieces of uncooked maggie noodles together and throw in some food dyes like brown, green and blue.. stick it on the ceiling.. TADA!!!!! That's how the chandeliers look... The hotel is also desperately in need of some serious revamping.. very old looking.. the tiles look like 1980s and the escalators have this irritating sound that goes "GONG.. GONG.. GONG"... Price Tag: $850nett

These are all the places I have been to for these 2 weeks.. Hopefully can settle on the date and venue soon!!! =)
